Night One of the USA Nationals

Paul Stubber, Kye Blight, and the rest of the BAR31 Team rolled into New Richmond, Wisconsin for the World of Outlaws race at the famous Cedar Lake Speedway for the prestigious 3-day USA Nationals. 48 of the best super late model drivers were on hand to try to make their way into the 25 lap Thursday night feature.

Kye drew pill #78 which had him qualifying in Group B. He put up a stellar lap that would make him 5th, only behind Cade Dillard, Brandon Sheppard, Jonathan Davenport, and Hudson O’Neal. Kye would start on the outside pole of heat #5. Drake Troutman got a jump on Kye, but Kye rallied to get back by Troutman and finished second behind Brandon Sheppard, which would lock him into the feature race. In the post-race interview, Kye said, “The car was really balanced. We can turn down or run the bottom; but I was really comfortable running that cushion, man.”

The BAR31 Team would start 10th in the A main. A couple of early cautions saw the 31 fall back as far as 16th place. But good clean driving, determination and a well-balanced racecar brought the team home in a solid 12th place. It’s good momentum going into day 2 of a 3-day event.
