Can Am Speedway Gearing Up For Six Classes Of Racing Friday Night

By: TIM BALTZ - LAFARGEVILLE, NY - The 2022 season has seen plenty of different winners across all divisions at the Can Am Speedway. This weekend drivers will be set to get back at it, as six classes of racing take to the speedway.

The Whitesboro Plow Shop DIRTcar 358 Modifieds will be in action this weekend and after last week Jordan McCreadie has all the confidence in his corner. Last week McCreadie took the lead from Jeff Sykes just past halfway and claimed his first win of the season. Points leader Tim Fuller came home fourth and will once again lead a quality field heading into Friday’s show.

Brian Hudson and Jessica Power put on a great show for the fans last week coming home in the top two spots in the Bob Johnson Auto Group DIRTcar Sportsman division. Hudson held off repeated challenges from Power to become the divisions first two-time winner on the year. Dave Rogers, who finished third a week ago, will come in with a slim eight point lead over Mike Fowler, in the chase for the track title.

The FABCO DIRTcar Pro Stocks will make their fourth appearance off the season and everyone is chasing Bruno Richard, who has been the hottest driver in the DIRTcar Pro Stock ranks in 2022. The Gatineau Quebec native won his first career DIRTcar Pro Stock Series race at Glen Ridge on Sunday night and will be bidding for his 12th overall win on the year and third at Can Am this season.

Paul DeRuyter has won the last two events in the Donath Motorworx Limited Sportsman in 2022. DeRuyter will look for a third straight win this coming Friday night, but Carthage New York natives, Owen and Keegan Nier will be challenging DeRuyter, while also battling each other for the lead in the points.

Josh Verne Jr. and Logan Crisafulli have been the top drivers in Panther Frameworx 602 Crate Sprint Car action at Can Am. Last week Verne held the lead until Crisafulli made the pass for the lead with a few laps remaining and went on for his 2nd win in three weeks. Both drivers come into Friday night tied for the points lead.

Tony Frezzo has turned it up recently in the Marsha Gibbons TLC Real Estate Thundercar division. Frezzo charged to his 2nd win of the 2022 season in last weeks 15 lap event. Joe Orvis continues to lead the points over Chuck Monica. Orvis has finished no worse than third all season.

Pit Gates open at 4:00pm with General Admission gates opening at 5:00pm. The drivers meeting will take place at 6:00pm sharp with Hot Laps to ensue at 6:20pm. Opening Ceremonies for the evening will kick off at 7:00pm by the lovely Miss Adirondack/Miss Thousand Islands and Heat Races will immediately follow.
