Iron-Man Late Model Series

J.T. Outduels Sam in Seawright Brothers Battle at 15th Annual Cabin Fever at Boyd’s Speedway

RINGGOLD, GEORGIA (January 28, 2023)– The Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Southern Series presented race number two of the Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Winter Series with the 15th Annual Cabin Fever at Boyd’s Speedway in Ringgold, GA and J.T. Seawright would outduel younger brother Sam Seawright to capture the biggest win of his career and score the $5,000 payday in an event that saw three different leaders and four lead changes.

The win for J.T. Seawright, 22-years of age, was his first career Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Series and come aboard the Marvin Ford Tribute car that is a Longhorn Chassis powered by CT525 Race Engine sponsored by Agcor Steel, J&R Lumber Supply, Team Grow Pediatric Therapy, Farm Systems Inc., and J&R Excavating.

Booger Brooks would grab the lead on the opening lap of the 15th Annual Cabin Fever feature event, but he would only lead the opening circuit as J.T. Seawright would grab the lead off the top side of turn four to lead lap two, while Sam Seawright, Christian Hanger, and Austin Horton would run third through fifth. The front five would remain the same as J.T. Seawright would catch the rear of the field and begin to work slower traffic by lap nine. The front trio of J.T. Seawright, Brooks, and Sam Seawright would be in heavy traffic by lap twelve, but J.T. Seawright would work slower traffic magnificently and maintain the lead, while Sam Seawright would battle with Brooks for the runner-up spot. The first caution of the event waved on lap twenty-two when Josh Walker slowed at the top side of turn two and during the caution, second place running Brooks would pull to the work area with a flat tire. The restart would not see a lap completed as seventh place running Jason Hiett would make contact with the retaining wall in turn four. This restart would see J.T. Seawright maintain the race lead, with Sam Seawright now second, while Horton would take third, Hanger would be fourth, and Landon Gentry would now be fifth. Sam Seawright would begin working the high side of the track and would pull alongside of his older brother on lap twenty-six and the pair would trade sliders on laps twenty-seven and twenty-eight, with Sam Seawright taking the lead on lap twenty-eight. J.T. Seawright would reclaim the lead on lap twenty-nine, with the Seawright beginning to work lapped traffic again on lap thirty-two. The caution would wave again on lap thirty-three for a spin by Will Harris in turn two. On the restart, third-place Horton would not come up to speed and pull in the infield, allowing Hanger to go to third, with Gentry fourth, and Jadon Frame now fifth. The final caution would wave again one circuit later on lap thirty-four for another spin by Harris in turn three. J.T. Seawright would again maintain the lead on the restart, with brother Sam Seawright still second, followed by Hanger, Gentry, and Frame. By lap thirty-five, Brooks would have charged his way back through the field and would take fifth from Frame and would pressure Gentry for fourth and take the spot on lap thirty-eight. J.T. Seawright would maintain the lead and drive to the checkered flag first over Sam Seawright, with Hanger, Brooks, and Gentry completing the top five. The remainder of the top ten would be Robby Mason, twentieth place starter Todd Morrow, Chase Oliver, Jason Hiett, and Frame.

The next event for the Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Series will be the third and final race of the 2023 Winter Series and will take place at Fort Payne Motor Speedway in Fort Payne, AL on Saturday February 25 for the 5th Annual Bama Brawl, paying $5,000 to win.
