Pair of Top-5 finishes at Boyd's and Smoky Mountain

After losing Friday’s Schaeffer's Spring Nationals stop at Wythe Raceway (Rural Retreat, Va.) to Mother Nature, Dale McDowell headed to Boyd’s Speedway (Ringgold, Ga.) for the Southern All Star Series-sanctioned contest. With a consolation victory locking him into the 10th-starting position for the $5,000-to-win A-Main, Dale passed eight cars in the 50-lapper to register a runner-up finish behind Michael Page. Chase King, Jadon Frame, and Donald McIntosh completed the Top-5 finishers.

For Schaeffer’s Spring Nationals sanctioned Spring Shootout on Saturday at Smoky Mountain Speedway (Maryville, Tenn.), McDowell started the night off with a heat race victory, which positioned him second on the starting grid $10,053-to-win A-Main. Losing one spot in the 53-lap affair, Dale posted a third-place finish, following Jimmy Owens and Brandon Overton across the line with Mike Marlar and Donald McIntosh rounding out the Top-5.
