Inside Line Promotions – SENOIA, Ga. (Aug. 22, 2017) – Derek Hagar is all smiles following his first weekend sweep of the season.

Hagar won both heat races and both main events in Georgia during a USCS Series doubleheader to give him eight triumphs this season, including four wins in his last eight races.

“It feels great for us as a team and me as the driver,” he said. “We tried some things this weekend. Both tracks were super, super slick. It really worked out. I was pleased with our effort. We were quick from the time we unloaded until the end of the night each time out. Kenny Conrad and Bill Crosthwait put a good piece of equipment under me. Kenny and Cody Hays did a good job of getting the car ready and setting it up.”

The action began on Friday at Boyds Speedway in Ringgold, where Hagar powered from fourth to win a heat race.

“The race track was slick from the start of the night so it took some finessing and throttle control to get around the track,” he said. “We went from fourth to first within the first two laps of the heat race. We ranked second in points and they had a zero inversion for the main event so I started second.”

Hagar capitalized on starting from the outside of the front row.

“We had a battle the first couple of laps, but we led every lap of the race,” he said. “Once we got in front we held our own. We had a couple of cautions. I had to make sure I had clean restarts and we were able to park it in Victory Lane.”

It was Hagar’s first career win at the track.

The weekend concluded on Saturday at Senoia Raceway, where Hagar powered from fourth to second place in the dash before he won a heat race after starting third.

“It was a different dirt than what we were on last time I was there,” he said. “It was real red and sandy dirt. This time it had some white gumbo on it. It was as smooth as glass. You could see your reflection on it. We tried some stuff in the dash and it worked so we left the car alone for the heat race. We got the lead going into turn one and pulled away.”

Hagar earned the most heat race points and the feature inversion was a four so he started the main event fourth.

“On the first lap everyone dove to the bottom and I zigged it around the top,” he said. “I got the lead down the back straightaway. Later in the race I noticed lapped cars were pulling away so I started searching and found the rubber. My car was too tight for the rubber so I had to compensate. It allowed some guys to catch up to me. With about six or seven laps to go we had a caution for a five-car pileup. There was a lapper under me so I had nowhere to go heading into the crashing cars. I barely found a small hole toward the wall. I don’t know how I made it through. I was able to keep the lead and held them off the last few laps to get the win.”

It marked the eighth different track Hagar has won at this season. He has now been victorious in Mississippi, Arkansas, Tennessee, Missouri and Georgia this year.

Hagar is slated to compete this Thursday at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Ark., with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour and Saturday at Lexington 104 Speedway in Lexington, Tenn., with the USCS Series.
