Andrews Close to First Attica Victory of the Season

Inside Line Promotions – FREMONT, Ohio (Aug. 1, 2018) – Chris Andrews hasn’t had the greatest luck at Attica Raceway Park this year.
Coming off his second championship at the track in Attica, Ohio, last year, the Burmeister Racing driver came very close to scoring his first win of the season there last Friday.
Andrews qualified eighth quickest and won a heat race before he started the feature fifth. He battled with Travis Philo for the 410ci sprint car win before settling for a close runner-up finish.
“I probably should have won at Attica,” he said. “I’ve watched the video three times and I have seen many, many things I should have done different the last five laps. But I’ll give Travis credit. He’s very hard to pass.”
Unfortunately, a broken front end part caused him to flip the following night at Fremont Speedway. Andrews, who came into the race having won the last two features at the track, was battling for a top-five spot when a mechanical failure sent him flipping halfway through the main event.
“We think a king pin came out of the front axle and it caused the wheel to fold in and we went for a ride,” he said. “Luckily I don’t think we bent the frame. The guys took the rear end out to be checked and put a new front axle in and we are ready to go.”
Andrews is currently sixth in the championship standings at Attica Raceway Park, third in the championship standings at Fremont Speedway and fourth in the All Pro Aluminum Cylinder Heads FAST 410 Championship Series Presented by Ohio Logistics championship standings.
He plans to compete in a FAST event this Saturday at Fremont Speedway followed by the Great Lakes Nationals at Mansfield Motor Speedway in Mansfield, Ohio, Aug. 10-11 with the FAST Series.
“We are trying to get everything out of this engine it has left and hopefully put our fresh motor in for the big weekend at Mansfield,” he added.
