DIRTcar Sportsman & Pro Stock Series + Plattsburgh State Men’s Hockey at Airborne
PLATTSBURGH – The 2019 season wraps up on Saturday at Plattsburgh Airborne Speedway for the Lake City Fire Equipment DIRTcar Sportsman Modified & Pro Stock Series presented by Country Malt Group.
Additionally, final point battles will be decided for the Ernie’s Discount Tools Super Stocks and Frennier Motorsports Strictly Stock divisions.
The Poirier’s True Value Sportsman Modified teams will run for track “show-up” points as they attempt to qualify for the 50-lap DIRTcar Sportsman Modified Series event. Teams will draw for their time trial groups on the way into the speedway and the time trial results will determine the starting lineup for heat racing.
Shane Pecore currently leads the DIRTcar Sportsman Modified North Region point standings through two events. Pecore has two top five finishes in the first two events and a total of 165 points. Bri Ladouceur and Kaven Poliquin are tied for second with 141 points, while Plattsburgh Airborne Speedway regular, Travis Bruno is fourth with 140 points. Bruno collected the series win at Airborne back in the month of May, while Robert Delormier scored the victory at Cornwall Motor Speedway in the month of August.
The Hartson Total Opening Pro Stock team will also run for track “show-up” points as they compete in the 50-lap DIRTcar Pro Stock Series event. Plattsburgh Airborne Speedway regular C.D. Beauchamp has won this event back-to-back years in Plattsburgh.
Shawn Duquette holds on to a 14-point lead in the Super Stock division. Tylor Terry sits in the second spot and had been closing up the gap in the past month. Duquette has two wins on the season, while Terry has found victory lane three times.
Nathan Smart has rallied from an early season technical disqualification to take over the Strictly Stock point lead. Smart has collected 10 wins in total. Smart leads Caleb Tourville by 24-points going into the weekend. Nathaniel Guay had been leading for the past month and a half, but ran into mechanical issues last weekend that hurt his point total.
A spectator attraction will include the attendance of the Plattsburgh State Cardinals men’s ice hockey team. Fans of Cardinal hockey can meet and practice hockey skills with the players. Fans can also enter a raffle for two Plattsburgh State men's ice hockey season tickets. Other items will be raffled off, too, including tickets to the Poirier's True Value Enduro 125 presented by Rene's Repair on Sunday, Sept. 29, and a Butcher Block gift certificate.
Racing gets underway at 6 p.m. with grandstands opening at 4 p.m. Admission prices are set at $15 for adults, while kids ages 12 and under are free. The first 25 kids in attendance wearing a Plattsburgh State Cardinals hockey jersey or t-shirt will receive a ticket for a free go-kart ride.
