Kids Night: Saturday at Airborne

PLATTSBURGH – Saturday night will be all about the kids at the Plattsburgh Airborne Speedway. Race car rides and regular racing action will be presented by Ashley Homestore at 6 p.m.

The Egglefield Ford 358-Modifieds, Poirier’s True Value Sportsman, Ernie’s Discount Tools Super Stocks, Hartson Total Opening Pro Stocks, Chris Frennier Motorsports Strictly Stocks and Novice Sportsman will all be in action.

Kids will have a chance to win movie passes, bowling games and even a bike! Race car rides will begin at 5:30, immediately following hot laps. Admission prices are set at $12 for adults with kids 12 and under free. Grandstand gates will open at 4 p.m.

So far through three events, 152 different drivers have signed into the garage area. The Sportsman division has seen the strongest numbers thus far, followed by the 358-Modifieds.

Three different drivers have collected wins in the headline 358-Modified division. The defending champion, Steve Bernier won on opening night, while Luke Whitteker and Lance Willix picked up wins in week two and three, respectively.

The Sportsman Mods have seen the same parity through three events with three different winners. Opening night saw the 2017 Sportsman champion pulling into victory lane, followed by Travis Bruno in week two and Lonnie Rivers in week three.

Jim McKiernan has been the hot driver in the Super Stock class, winning all three events. Josh LaPorte has two wins on the year to lead the Strictly Stock division. C.D. Beauchamp and Marc Lalonde have Pro Stock victories, while Felix Roy and Lee Barcomb have Novice Sportsman wins.

Be sure to stop by and check out the fast paced, side by side, wheel to wheel racing action at the Plattsburgh Airborne Speedway. To get to the Plattsburgh Airborne Speedway take exit 36 off of I-87, turn left and head a mile south on Route 22, then turn right onto Broderick Rd.
