Packed Weekend Ahead at Airborne

PLATTSBURGH – Saturday night is shaping up to be action filled with bonus racing and entertainment at Airborne Park Speedway. The regularly scheduled Vertigo Motorsports Spectator Races presented by Heald Funeral Home will take place, plus last weekends rained out Laware Construction Dump Truck Races presented by Huntley Trucking.

The Egglefield Ford 358 Modifieds, Fidelis Care Sportsman, Poirier’s True Value Renegades, Busch Beer Mini-Mods and Strictly Stocks will all be in action for heat races and feature events.

The double up for special events will be a fan favorite this weekend. After speaking with officials from Laware Construction, we are expecting over 10 dump trucks to participate in the event. The Spectator Races are always enjoyed by the fans and an opportunity for the regular fan to show off their driving ability.

In addition, the night will have a “Back to School” theme as Billie Jo Branham has gathered a number of racers, crews and track officials to donate backpacks and school supplies to be given away to the children throughout the evening.

Post time is slated for 7 P.M. with grandstands opening at 5. Admission is just $12 for adults with kids ages 12 and under free of charge.

The season point battles are in the home stretch with just three point counting events remaining for the DIRTcar sanctioned divisions. Current Modified point leader, Chris Raabe, has collected five wins and has been ultra consistent by finishing in the top five nine times in nine attempts. Raabe leads local favorite Mike Perrotte by 78 points and Gage Morin sits third, 80 points back.

Connor Cleveland collected his second win last time out in the Sportsman division and also increased his point lead over the five-time defending champion, Nick Heywood. Heywood sits 54 points behind the top spot and Moïse Pagé is third, 68 points out.

These point battles will continue on Saturday along with the first ever Dump Truck Races and yearly Spectator Races. For more information visit airborneparkspeedway.com or on Facebook at Airborne Park Speedway.
