MWRA Sprint Cars open Friday night at Butler

By Ray Cunningham (Butler, MO) -- This Friday night April 21st at Electric City Speedway in Butler, Missouri the Wholesale Batteries USAC MWRA Non Winged Sprint Car Series will kick off their campaign with the first of 18 scheduled points paying races this year.

The Midwest Wingless Racing Association will be conducting its 4th season of competition racing under the USAC banner in 2023 with more races and prize money than ever before.

While adding three new venues to the slate, I-70 Motorsports Park in Odessa, Missouri, Humboldt Speedway, in Humboldt, Kansas, and the Belleville (short track) at the Republic County Fairgrounds in Belleville, Kansas. And two special non points shows racing with the USAC National Series at Knoxville, The Corn Belt Clash @ Knoxville Raceway.

Over the first three seasons of competition the MWRA has provided exciting and memorable racing with events at tracks that have included in Missouri, US36 Raceway in Osborn, I-35 Speedway in Winston, Valley Speedway in Grain Valley, Nevada Speedway, and Bethany Speedway, at the Northwest Missouri Fairgrounds. All venues that are once again on the docket for 2023.
As well as Kansas mainstays, Lakeside Speedway in KCK, and 81 Speedway in Park City. While for the fourth straight season the WELD MEMORIAL - Lakeside Speedway, and the HELM MEMORIAL @ Valley Speedway will be once again part of the MWRA’s 2023 schedule.

First up however will be a return to Electric City Speedway in Butler, Missouri where the MWRA raced at for the first time ever in 2022 on July 3rd. With 25 non winged sprint cars present before the skies opened up ruining the party after exciting heat race action.

Drivers scheduled to appear for this one include 2020 and 2022 MWRA Champion Wyatt Burks of Topeka, Kansas, 2021 Champion Kory Schudy of Battlefield, Missouri, 2021 runner up Wesley Smith of Nixa, Missouri, and 2022 second place finisher in points Chris Parkinson of Gladstone, Missouri.
Plus many other stalwarts of Heartland non winged sprint car racing set to compete at Electric City Speedway in Butler, Missouri this Friday night. Grandstands open at 5pm. Hot laps at 7:30pm.
