Barker Joins MWRA Team
KCK: Sprint Car Driver Drake Barker will join the MWRA as a pit steward for the rest of the 2022 campaign according to competition director Lonnie Pauley.
Last season Barker vied for rookie of the year honors in the USAC based non winged sprint car club driving the Barker Racing 28 becoming a favorite with both fans and racers alike.
The veteran driver from Humboldt, Kansas is a third generation racer who has ran on both dirt & asphalt, and with classes that have included sprint cars, pure stocks and sport mods.
After enjoying competing with the MWRA in 2021 as driver, Barker is excited to become a part of the officiating team for the club in 2022 stating, “I really enjoyed racing with the MWRA, and I’m excited to be a official now. It’s a great club featuring many of the best drivers and teams in the Heartland. I want to help out the series anyway I can as it continues to be one of the greatest shows on dirt.”
Shelby Manthe, head of the USAC MWRA this season had this to say as well about Barker. “Adding Drake to the team brings passion and reliability to the series. I saw that personally when he helped out our crew two years ago fix a mangled car to get it out on the track for the feature.” While further expressing, “Drake is dedicated to his ambitions to race or lend a hand to any driver in need. While his fiancé Demi Bribiescaid is always with him every step of the way, and will be a great addition helping out in the merchandise booth.”
