Recap of last week and weekend preview
Well we got to kick off our racing season for 2020 at the Devils Lake Speedway last weekend and all i can say about it was i was happy to get the season started and the car back in the trailer again in one piece. I definitely am thankful that we are even able to race considering all things so i am also thankful for Devils Lake Speedway providing us a place to race for the Minn-Kota Lightning Sprint season opener. Anyway we started the year with a test n tune at West Fargo and the car seemed to have no power and just seemed bogged down, so thinking it was a gearing issue we changed gears for Devils Lake. Right away from hot laps it seemed off still so checked a few more things and nothing seemed to make it better. We started up front in the heat and couldn't keep speed with the leader and lost about 6 car lengths by the time we hit the flagstand and by the time we got the motor turning good RPM it would lug coming off the corner so all that could be done is ride it out. Before the feature a couple things were looked at and no real answer as to what was causing the issue that could be fixed at the track we headed out and did the best we could. The car seemed to handle but being down on power all that could be done was try and get the best we could!
With the help of Marty we made the test n tune Wednesday night at the Red River Valley Speedway and tried several things but never seemed to get the problem with the motor figured out. The next morning phone calls were made to Hyper Racing, Guhl Motors along with some brainstorming with the pit crew and some things within the electrical system and the culprit may have been found...... Unfortunately i will not know if the problem is fixed before hitting the track tonight but i sure hope so!!! Otherwise this will be a frustrating 2 day weekend!!!
We will keep you all posted on our social media accounts this weekend!!!
Also a great big thank you to the great sponsors of the #100 team and also to the family and friends that support this crazy racing bug!!! See you at the races!!!
