September 9, 2022 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(Pulaski, PA)...The 2022 racing season is winding down, but there was plenty of Hovis Auto and Truck Supply RUSH Racing Series presented by Born2Run Lubricants action this past weekend. Veteran Rob Kristyak ended a three-year winless drought at Sharon and with the Flynn's Tire Touring Series by scoring a well-deserved victory in RUSH Sportsman Modified competition during the "Sharon Nationals". Standouts Joe Martin, Kyle Hardy, Chad Homan, Jason Knowles, and Joe Warren added to their win totals in RUSH Late Model action, while Chad Ruhlman scored another Lernerville Speedway victory in RUSH Sprint Car Equipment Rental Options Weekly action.

Delaware International Speedway hosted a special Friday night racing card that saw Joe Warren pick up his third RUSH Late Model victory of the season in seven starts at the speedway as he continues to lead the $1,000 "Track Pack". Trevor Collins was second. Two-time winner, Derek Magee, was third. Matt Hill, who won the last show at DIS, was fourth over David Dill, Jr.

Making his first start since the season opener back on May 14, Chad Homan returned to The Hill Speedway for the season finale and made it two-for-two on Friday evening. Rich McNeal came home in second followed by Chris Fleming, track champion Mike Epler and Ricky Loucks, who made his first ever start at The Hill. It was Homan’s ninth overall victory in RUSH Late Model weekly action. Jared Keeney, who was not in competition, had already clinched the $1,000 RUSH "Track Pack" Championship.

Pittsburgh’s PA Motor Speedway managed to get in both the RUSH Late Model and RUSH Sportsman Modified events before Mother Nature postponed the remainder of the evening’s racing action. Veteran Joe Martin started on the pole, weathered several cautions and led the event for the entire 30 lap distance to score his second victory of the season at the Imperial, PA oval. Martin's $2,000 win came in the "Red Miley Rumble" and was his fifth overall of the season in RUSH competition to move into fifth in the National Weekly Series standings. Twelfth starter Garret Paugh came home in second with Mike Reft, Cole Petrelle and Brandon Burgoon completing the top five.

Jeremy Wonderling cruised to his seventh RUSH Late Model victory of the season in just 12 starts at Genesee Speedway this season. “Mr. Excitement” grabbed the lead from Jimmy Johnson a lap after the event’s only caution on lap eight and cruised to his fourth straight win when invading the Batavia, New York oval. Wonderling was able to score his 11th overall win of 2022 by nearly four seconds over Johnson, who recorded his third runner-up finish of the year. Chad Homan settled for third over Bill Holmes. Doug Ricotta rounded out the top five as he continues to lead the RUSH "Track Pack" points.

Weekly RUSH Late Model action at Winchester Speedway got off to a slow start as a four-car accident on the backstretch slowed the action before the first lap was completed. When the action resumed, pole-sitter Kyle Hardy took the top spot with Daniel Brown, Jr. in second. Cautions on laps seven and 14 saw Hardy’s straightaway lead erased both times but each time the action resumed he was never challenged for the top spot. Hardy went on to score his fourth win of the season at the speedway as well as his 10th on the 2022 RUSH circuit as he remains in the hunt for the National Weekly Series Championship. Making his return for the first time since the April 16 Tour event, Cody Dawson, was a season best second. Jacob Burdette, Scott Sweeney Jr., and Jared Powell completed the top five.

Jason McGregor led the early stages of the RUSH Late Model main event at Woodhull Raceway. Near the halfway portion of the event several competitors got crossed up resulting in a red flag to clear the speedway. When racing action resumed Joe Layfield led the field until Jason Knowles took over the top spot and cruised to the win. It was Knowles fifth win of the season at the oval as he and his brother Brian have now won 11 of the 17 features this year at the southern tier New York bullring. Austin Allen came home in second with Layfield, McGregor and 2022 track Brian Knowles following.

The Hovis RUSH Sprint Cars were added to the "Fab 4" finale at Lernerville Speedway after the "410" Sprints were given the night off to compete at Sharon. Veteran Chad Ruhlman led the 20-lap main event flag-to-flag to score his second straight victory of the season at the oval, and sixth overall of the season in Equipment Rental Options Weekly Series action. Arnie Kent came home in second with Blaze Myers in third. Gale Ruth, Jr. and Andy Priest completed the top five. The RUSH Sprint event that was scheduled at Tri-City Raceway Park on Sunday was rained out ending the season at the Franklin, Pa. half-mile oval.

The RUSH Sportsman Modified Series was in action at Sharon Speedway for the final time of the 2022 season on Friday evening as part of the "Sharon Nationals". Veteran Rob Kristyak ended a winless drought of more than three years at the speedway and with the Flynn's Tire Touring Series with a dominating performance in the 25-lap main event. Kristyak got by Doug Rutana on the start as he and Tony Tatgenhorst immediately distanced themselves from the rest of the field. By lap eight, Kristyak distanced himself from Tatgenhorst and reached lapped traffic by lap 12. The lapped traffic didn’t slow Kristyak as he led the remainder of the event and scored the victory by 5.761 seconds over Tatgenhorst. The win was worth $1,000 for Kristyak thanks to sponsorship from Jerry Rents LLC, who added $600 into the purse.

Rutana came home in third for a career best finish followed by Todd English. Cole Edwards recorded his first career Sharon top five finish. After missing his heat race due to football, Ben Easler raced up to 11th place in the non-stop event to capture the $1,000 Wedge Motorsports "Route 7 Rumble" Series Championship. Easler also continues to lead the $3,500 to-win Hovis Weekly Series Championship.

On Saturday night at Pittsburgh, Kole Holden led the entire distance of the RUSH Sportsman Modified main event to score his first win at the "Monster Half-Mile" since July 10 of last year. Holden became the fourth different winner in five races this year at Pittsburgh with his third overall win of 2022. Chelsie Kriegisch was second in her first RUSH start since blowing an engine at Expo on July 14. Jacob Jordan, who won his first career feature at the last PPMS event, was third over "Futures Cup" racer Lucas Canon and 2021 RUSH Stock Car Champion Jeremy Zufall.

The RUSH Late Model Flynn's Tire Touring Series event that was scheduled for Sunday, September 4 at Tyler County Speedway was postponed due to rain and wet grounds. The "Cider Jug 40" event, which will pay the winner $4,000, has been rescheduled for Thursday, September 29 before two nights at Pittsburgh for the "Bill Hendren Memorial".

Picking up RUSH Karting Series victories at Stateline Saturday afternoon were Bexley Smith (Rookie), Jackson Himes (JR-1) and Mike Boardman (Adult). Wins during the evening program went to Alex Daniels (Rookie), Keaton Destre (JR-1), and Sydney Wetherbee (Adult).

RUSH racing action at Bradford Speedway on Sunday night was rained out. RUSH competitors had the weekend off at Raceway 7, Dog Hollow, Potomac, Skyline and Eriez.

Georgetown Speedway is hosting a special $1,000 to win Hovis Auto and Truck Supply Weekly Series event on Friday. This Saturday the RUSH Late Model Flynn’s Tire Touring Series will make its first ever appearance at the Land of Legends Raceway in Canandaigua, NY. This is a Platinum Event with the winner receiving $3,000. Weekly RUSH Late Model action is also scheduled at Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway and Woodhull Raceway on Saturday evening. Bradford will have both the RUSH Late Models and RUSH Pro Mods on Sunday evening.
