IRA Lightning Sprints

Strane Jr. bags #7

13 cars made the trek north to 141 Speedway in support of the IRA 410 sprints. Brian Strane Jr. would once again edge out Nick Petska and Mike Neau for quick time honors and establishing a new qualifying track record there at 12.639. The top 3 were all under the previous record. In Allstar Performance Heat 1, front row starter Jacob Irwin would take the win while Mark Heinert would claim Rod End Supply Heat 2. A common theme with the IRA Lightning Sprints this year has been running green to checkers features and this happened again this night. Chad Stouthamer again would capitalize on his front pole position starting spot and lead early, however it was Brian Strane Jr. coming from 8th and passing for the lead with 3 to go and capturing his 7th win of the season as well as the Weld Racing Hard Charger and redeeming himself after disaster after taking the lead last week at Wilmot and then retiring with a mechanical issue and losing the track championship. A great points night gets him back to within 5 points for the season championship with 2 races to go.

The ILS returns to Wilmot Raceway as part of the Inaugural Fall Classic during the Friday night show on September 20th before finishing up the season at the Wisconsin Sprint Car Championships at the Plymouth Dirt Track on September 28th.
