RACE OF CHAMPIONS MODIFIED SERIES TRADITION CONTINUES WITH THE NIGHT BEFORE THE GLEN ROD SPALDING CLASSIC
The Race of Champions Modified Series will continue one of the Southern Tier’s most treasured traditions with the running of “The Night Before The Glen – Rod Spalding Classic” at Chemung Speedrome on Saturday, August 9.
The event will include another “Backpack” giveaway including school for youngsters. The first “Kids RoC” backpack giveaway was ultra successful this past Friday at Spencer Speedway in Williamson, NY and another round of nearly 70 backpacks will be handed out Saturday at Chemung as part of the traditional night.
The event honors Rod Spalding, a respected Modified driver who received the Sportsmanship of the Year award at Shangri-La Speedway in Tioga, N.Y., before suffering serious injuries at Orange County Speedway in Rougemont, N.C. His legacy lives on through the work of the Spalding Foundation for Injured Drivers, which continues to support racers throughout the region.
The Race of Champions Modified Series highlight the card in a 75-lap race competing for $5,000-to-win.
In addition to the Modifieds, fans will be treated to a full night of racing action featuring the Race of Champions Late Model Series, the Race of Champions FOAR SCORE Four Cylinder Dash Series as part of the “RoC-In” Summer Tour, and the popular Chemung Hobby Stocks.
