Breaking Down The Top Ten: 7th, Steven Drevicki

Nick Fillman, USAC East Coast Sprint Cars

The 2021 season for Reading, PA’s Steven Drevicki was one of trials and tribulations as the defending champion, and three time series champion, looked to continue his success with the Rapid Tire, USAC East Coast Sprint Car Series, Presented by Capitol Renegade Series.

Drevicki also made a number of 410 sprint car starts with the USAC National Sprint cars both on the east coast and in the mid-west. Drevicki and team started out the year strong with a few top five finishes, including narrowly collecting wins at both the Port Royal Speedway in April and the Grandview Speedway in May. Early on in the season Drevicki found success with the USAC National Sprint cars during their late April stop on the east coast, including setting quick time at the BAPS Motor-speedway.

A nasty flip at the Selinsgrove speedway in May would force the team to sit out for a few events with the East Coast Sprint Cars, before the team returned to action at Williams Grove where Drevicki would defend his title as the only driver to have won a USAC East Coast event at the Williams Grove Speedway.

Unfortunately for Drevicki a second accident at the Big Diamond speedway would shelve the family owned program for the time being, and the DeGre engineering team that Drevicki drives for in 410 competition would come in for a number of events on the East Coast Series. The family owned entry would make one final return to the series at the Bedford Speedway in August where another flip ended the family team’s season, and the DeGre team taking over for the remainder of the season.

In total Drevicki made 16 starts with the series in 2021, collecting eleven top ten finishes, nine top five runs, six podium runs over all, and one feature event victory at the Williams Grove Speedway. In addition to his year with USAC East Coast, Drevicki competed in both USAC National Eastern swings, the annual Kokomo Smackdown, and the Eldora Four Crown Nationals.

2022 should hopefully be better year for the three time series champion, with a similar schedule on tap for Drevicki and team, running a large portion of events on the series trail in 2022.
