MLDS Prep for Southwest Swing

West Allis, WI (June 27th, 2024) - The Midwest Legends Dirt Series Presented by Legends.Direct are ready to ship southwest for a two day swing this upcoming weekend on June 28th and 29th. The series will stop first at Lafayette County Speedway in Darlington, Wisconsin, followed by Maquoketa Speedway in Maquoketa, Iowa. Valuable points are on the line and it wouldn’t be unlikely to see some unfamiliar names pop up throughout the weekend.

The most southern track in Wisconsin that the MLDS will visit this season is the first of the weekend, the famed Lafayette County Speedway in Darlington, Wisconsin will see legend action once again return on Friday night. The 3/8th mile clay oval, which is in the shape of a deformed D, is bound to bring exciting racing to the series. Saturday, the series makes its first trip across the Iowa border to Maquoketa Speedway in Maquoketa, Iowa. The second 3/8th mile of the weekend will see great racing at a track that regularly hosts great legend racing. Any driver who is up for a challenge can take it on for a third night on Sunday. Benton County Speedway will be running a legends class on Sunday night, it will not be a MLDS sanctioned race but is bound to be a fantastic show if a driver is up for the challenge.

Scott Busch and Austin Winkel picked up the wins last season when legends were present at Lafayette County Speedway, but we are yet to see either driver this season, so the door is wide open for someone. Drivers such as Jordan Miklas and Micheal Weber had good runs last season and look to return to the track in good form. Maquoketa Speedway should see a high car count as legends are one of the track’s weekly divisions. This season so far Jackson Lewis, Weber, and Dylan Manning have all picked up wins at the track. Jeff Schmidt leads the points at the track with Cole O’Brien and Dave Eberle following closely behind.

The pits and grandstands on Friday will open up at 5:00pm, with hotlaps at 6:45pm and racing slated to begin at 7:00pm. Saturday, the pits and grandstands will open at 4:00pm with hotlaps set to start at 6:00pm with racing to follow. You will be able to listen to all the action at Maquoketa on FM 88.9.
