Grandpa Mueller Tops Grandson Sullivan in BDR Legends Points Blumer 3rd
(Sept. 13,2020)
The season isn’t quite done for 2020 at Beaver Dam Raceway, but the points races for the Wisconsin track are. The class that matters to us, the INEX Legends, were looking forward to a very interesting final night, but Mother Nature had other ideas.
With a lot of rain on the ground as of noon on Friday and a bad forecast for much of race day, officials called the event on Friday. Had they been able to get it in, the duel may have been epic between Mike “Lightning McQueen” Mueller and Ryan “Cheeseburger” Sullivan. The grandpa/grandson duo were separated by just six points going into the finale.
To put that race into perspective, the top five in a heat earn five points for first place, on down to one for fifth. Features winners earn 100 points with three less points after that for each position. Mueller’s six point advantage going into the night could have easily been erased, but we’ll never know. This class typically brings 25 to 30 cars to an event. Anything could have happened.
No doubt, it was the right decision and the track left no room for speculation, as they made it clear before the race was even called, that there would be no rain date.
As for the subject of this site, Eric, was solidly in third place in points, 52 out of the lead. There was a slim, mathematical chance he could take the BDR title, but unless the Mueller toter home broke down on the way from Waupun, it wasn’t going to happen for the 2020 Wisconsin Legends Racing Dirt Series champion.
As to that third place finish, Eric had no chance to drop down as Tristian Furseth was 107 points behind him.
UP NEXT, ONE MORE BIG SHOW
This week, Saturday, Sept. 19, the Legends have the awesome opportunity to, once again, race with the IRA Sprint Cars and the wingLESS Sprint Cars. This is an EBR crowd and we always gear up when we get to run with an open wheel group! Please check Beaver Dam Raceway and the IRA’s page for full and official details. This show should be live on the internet with a FloRacing subscription. Again, check with them for details.
2021 SPONSORSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
EBR is one of the few area teams that has a dedicated website. We also are active on Facebook. We can’t thank the “Sun Prairie Star,” our hometown newspaper, enough for their coverage of the team this year. Anyone can pound words out on electronic media. It takes a real commitment to put someone’s story in ink. This all brings some added value to potential sponsors.
We will be in contact with our current supporters to talk about next year. We plan on running the Legend again. But, we ask if you or someone you know would be interested in adding their name to the 6E in 2021, please reach out to us. Eric works hard at sponsorship. He’s found “cold calls” don’t achieve much support, but one degree of separation has been very successful in the past.
AS ALWAYS, THANKS!
These are the businesses and folks who are helping to keep "The Big E," on the track through their generous support in 2020! Dog Guard of Wisconsin; BRS Radiator, Machine & Fabrication; Northern Air Systems, Inc.; Phil Espenes; Storage & Handling Systems; Club LaMark; Bullseye Games; Ground Up Lifts; Sieg Law Office; OWL Graphics and Lettering; Grandpa Blumer, Bulltown Legends and Casey Bollig Photography.
Here are the people who put hands on the 6E to get it in top shape every week: Justin Hoium, Greg Leatherbeary, Big Dumb Guy, Joe Wipperfurth, Bill Tefft, Brian Benisch, Cody Weisensel and Stephanie Blumer.
We salute Owen Leatherberry (U.S. Navy) and Andrew Upperman (U.S. Marine Corps.)!
Thanks to you all for your part in Eric Blumer Racing!
