Setters Scores Second-Place Result During Rocky Mountain Sprint Car Series Race

Inside Line Promotions – GREAT FALLS, Mont. (June 8, 2021) – James Setters posted his third podium finish of the season last Saturday during Round 3 of the Rocky Mountain Sprint Car Series season at Electric City Speedway.

Setters guided the Mike Quigley owned No. 2 to a runner-up result, which snapped his two-race winning streak that started the season. That served to fire up Setters, whose next race with the series is July 3.

“I can’t wait to come back the next race and hopefully win,” he said.

Setters started Saturday night by winning a heat race from the pole. He remains undefeated with three heat race wins in three starts this season. The feature redraw originally lined Setters up on the inside of the second row for the 20-lap A Main.

“The guy on the pole spun before we completed a lap so that moved me up to the pole,” he said. “I was leading most of the race. Kory (Wermling) was right behind me the whole time. I got caught up in some traffic with two laps to go.”

A dicey moment in traffic dropped Setters to second in the closing laps.

“The racing groove was on the top all the way around,” he said. “In turns one and two the top was decent, but the bottom was definitely the preferred line. I entered in on the top and the lapped car moved up. I tried to cut down, but Kory got underneath me on the bottom.”

The second-place showing was only the third time Setters hasn’t won a Rocky Mountain Sprint Car Series race in his last 14 races during the last three years.
