Lawrence Scores Podium in Texas and Top 10 in Oklahoma

Inside Line Promotions – LAWTON, Okla. (Aug. 21, 2019) – Zane Lawrence produced a solid weekend, recording a podium finish at Boyd Speedway and a top-10 result at Lawton Speedway.

Lawrence kicked off the weekend on Friday at the oval in Boyd, Texas, for a Texas Sprint Series event. He started from the outside of the second row in a heat race and advanced one position to finish third.

“We were solid in the heat race,” he said. “That lined us up for the feature in a good spot. Boyd is a pretty fun place so I knew we could race hard and pick off a few positions.”

Lawrence, who was driving for Bob Odom, lined up on the outside of the third row for the A Main and he maneuvered his way toward the front of the field before ending with a third-place run, which was his second top five of the season.

“We had a pretty good finish,” he said. “I was happy with it as was Bob. I can’t thank him enough for letting me get some more seat time and log solid finishes in his car.”

Lawrence ventured to Lawton Speedway on Saturday for an ASCS Sooner Region show. He finished where he started – seventh – in a heat race. That lined him up on the outside of the ninth row for the feature.

“I knew that I was going to have to make moves early at Lawton,” he said. “The track rubbered up early and we single-filed out after that.”

Lawrence made a hard charge toward the front and came home with a ninth-place finish. It was his fifth top 10 of the season and the performance earned him the Hard Charger Award for passing the most cars. He donated the prize money to injured driver Grady Chandler.

Lawrence’s next race will be this Saturday at Abilene Speedway in Abilene, Texas, with the ASCS Lone Star Region.
