Daulton Wilson Gets it Done in Valvoline American Late Model Iron-Man Series Fueled by VP Racing Fuels Victory Boone Coleman Memorial Gator 50 at Port

PORTSMOUTH, OHIO (August 30, 2024)– The Valvoline American Late Model Iron-Man Series Fueled by VP Racing Fuels would begin the 2024 Labor Day Holiday weekend on Friday evening at Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, OH for the track’s 13th Annual Boone Coleman Memorial Gator 50 and Daulton Wilson of Fayetteville, NC would lead all fifty laps and score the $7,500 payday.

The win by the 27-year-old Wilson would be his first career Valvoline American Late Model Iron-Man Series victory and would come behind the wheel of the James Rattliff owned Longhorn Chassis powered by a Clements Race Engines with sponsorship from JRR Motor Sales, MGL Auto Sales, Keltner Contracting, Grant Lee Farms, Worldwide Custom Car Haulers, ICS, B&L Construction and Septic Service, New Point Lighting and Design, and JRR Trucking.

Daulton Wilson would grab the lead at the start of the 13th Annual Boone Coleman Memorial Gator 50, with Rod Conley, R.J. Conley, Tim Dohm, and Kirk Phillips giving chase. The first caution would wave on lap two for a three-car tangle between Clay Harris, Kevin Wagner, and Josh Bocook, with Harris and Bocook done for the event. The restart would see Wilson keep the lead, with Rod Conley and R.J. Conley second and third, Tim Dohm fourth, while Rusty Schlenk would go to fifth by Phillips. The front five remained the same as Wilson began lapping slower cars on lap ten, with Schlenk taking fourth from Dohm on lap eleven. Wilson would extend his lead until the caution waved again on lap eighteen when Kirk Phillips slowed in turn two. Wilson maintained the lead on the restart, while R.J. Conley would take second from Rod Conley, only to have Rod Conley reclaim the second position from his brother one circuit later and Schlenk would roll past R.J. Conley for third on lap twenty-one. Disaster would strike second-place Rod Conley when he lost a left-rear tire and wheel on lap twenty-three, but would be able to return. Wilson would keep the lead again on the restart, with Schlenk now second, Seth Daniels third, Garrett Alberson fourth, and Shane Bailey taking fifth. Daniels would take second from Schlenk on lap twenty-four, with Alberson working past Schlenk for third one tour later. Schlenk would retake third from Alberson on lap twenty-six. With Wilson beginning to pull away, Schlenk would get by Daniels for second, while Alberson would get by Schlenk and Daniels for second on lap twenty-eight. Meanwhile, R.J. Conley, who pitted on the lap twenty-three caution, would make his way back into the top five on lap thirty-five. Alberson would close in a bit on Wilson by lap forty, but Wilson would pull away from Alberson until the final caution waved on lap forty-six for third place Schlenk, who slowed in turn four and would have to be towed to the pit area. The final five laps would see Wilson maintain the lead and see the checkered flag first over Alberson, Daniels, R.J. Conley, and Shane Bailey. The remainder of the top ten finishers would be Audie Swartz, Rod Conley, Rob Anderzack, Russell Throckmorton, and Schlenk.
