Patience Pays for Ransom, Krick Claims Series Title

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(Charleston, IL) It was a war of attrition on a beautiful October night at Charleston Speedway but Jim Ransom played the patience card and it paid.

The 4th Annual UMP DIRTcar Street Stock Fall Nationals saw twenty-six Street Stocks in attendance for the highest paying Midwest Street Stock Championship event to date. All but one point paying areas of the series were up for grabs in the inaugural season's last race. Jerrad Krick made quick work of claiming the Driven Racing Oil Fast Time season title as he set the fastest qualifying time of the night with a lap of 14.320 seconds. Josh Griffith, Jeremy Nichols, Megan Erwin, and Jordan Smith rounded out the top five in Driven Racing Oil Qualifications.

Krick continued his winning ways as he easily captured the first heat race win. Event organizer Josh Griffith put himself in a great position to win the main event by winning the second heat race and Dane Arvin grabbed his first heat race win of the year in the third and final heat race.

Having already wrapped up the JAZ Products Dash championship, Krick made it known that he was the one to beat by bringing home another JAZ Products Dash victory. He was followed across the line by Josh Griffith, Nick Macklin, Dane Arvin, Robert Cottom, and Dave Crawley, JR.

Rick Hufford would take the semi-feature victory, transferring him into the forty lap main event. Jordan Smith, Calvin Peek, JR., Dennis Ring, and Kevin Quimby also transferred into the feature.

The 4th Annual UMP DIRTcar Street Stock Fall Nationals forty lap feature event started how the entire night had gone so far with the 99K of Jerrad Krick in command of the field. In a race riddled with cautions, Krick was not immune, losing a left front tire close to the midway point of the race. At that point, Jim Ransom inherited the lead and never looked back, even after challenges from Krick, whom had come from the tail after his tire change to challenge for the lead again, and Jeremy Nichols. Nichols had reeled in Ransom in the closing laps and attempted to make a pass in turn four on the last lap but was unable to make the pass stick. Ransom picked up $1,500 for his victory and was followed across the line by Nichols, Robert Cottom, Rick Hufford, and Jordan Smith.

The night was not over though. In post-race inspection, the car of Rick Hufford was disqualified for violation of DIRTcar UMP rule 15.7-L and Midwest Street Stock Championship rule 10.O.XIII: Slots and/or adjustable rod ends will not be permitted. The Hufford car was discovered to have adjustable rod ends on the upper trailing arms and was disqualified for it, moving Jordan Smith into fourth and Jerrad Krick into fifth place. All other cars passed inspection.

Once all was said and done, Jerrad Krick captured the inaugural Midwest Street Stock Championship points title as well as the Driven Racing Oil Fast Time Championship, and the JAZ Products Dash Championship. Dave Crawley, JR. brought home the Dirt Trackin' Hard Charger Championship, and Dane Arvin was crowned the Side Bite Designs and Race Wraps Rookie of the Year.

Season ending banquet and awards ceremony will be held November 18 in the Terrill Rooms of historic Eureka College in Eureka, Illinois from 6-8pm. Please visit our Facebook Page for more information.
