Zielski Seals Angell Park Sweep

Sun Prairie, WI (July 30th, 2024) - Ryan Zielski has a knack for Angell Park Speedway. Earlier in the season he walked away with a dominating win at the track and set his sights on his second win on Sunday. After a twenty-lap barn burner, the driver from Oconomowoc, Wisconsin reigned supreme during the AutoMeter Wisconsin WingLESS Sprints feature.

22 cars made the trip to the track an hour and forty-five minutes from Wilmot Raceway the day after Allen Hafford took the win at the track. Ryan Marshall led the way in qualifying with a 14.742 second lap. Bryce Andrews, Jimmy Sivia, Zach Raidart, and Clayton Rossmann rounded out the top five.

Heat 1 went to Rusty Egan with Allen Hafford and Zach Raidart behind. Heat 2 saw Ryan Zielski pick up the win over Eric Wilke after a heated battle with Clayton Rossmann third. Heat 3 went to Tristian Furseth, John Fahl and Jimmy Sivia finished in second and third.

Ryan Zielski would start from the pole of the twenty-lap feature with the best chance at picking up the win, Tristan Furseth lined up second. Zielski led the field to green and got off to a strong start, building up a 1.5 second gap by lap seven. Furseth held onto the second-place spot before Eric Wilke through a slider on the #57 and moved into the second spot. Wilke began to close in on Zielski, gaining around two-tenths every lap. Lap twelve was the sweet spot for Wilke, closing to three-tenths on the leader until lapped traffic became a factor. Zach Raidart slowly closed in on the top two, beginning to attack Wilke before a late yellow came with three laps remaining. With just three laps left, Wilke and Raidart had their work cut out for them if they wanted any chance at the lead. Zielski led the field back to green with Wilke in tow. The #24 had pace on the top, and the driver who picked up his first feature win of his career at the same event a year prior had one opportunity to make a move count. Wilke waived until the final lap, going through turns one and two to try and force a run-on Zielski. Ultimately the move would fail, with Wilke saying after the race, “I’m not sure why I thought one and two was a good idea”. A poor run out of turn two allowed Zielski to run away while Raidart was able to force his way past Wilke for second. Ryan Zielski picked up the win with Raidart and Wilke the top three. Furseth brought home fourth with Jimmy Sivia in fifth.

The AutoMeter Wisconsin WingLESS Sprints head into an August full of Wilmot Raceway with races on the 3rd, 17th, and 24th.
