GLSS-Great Lakes Super Sprints
2020 GLSS SPRINT SCHEDULE RELEASED
MERRILL, MI - The newly named Great Lakes Super Sprints presented by Engine Pro and ARP is pleased to release the 2020 schedule with 21 races scheduled in Michigan and a few other races still being negotiated.
Opening our 2020 campaign a week earlier than normal, we will be visiting our adopted home track of I-96 Speedway (Lake Odessa, MI) on Friday, April 24th. Hoping to get the dust knocked off early and get ready for our second straight year of racing head to head with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour two weeks later.
A weekend to mark on your calendars will be May 8th and 9th as GLSS and ASCS square off for two big nights of racing, supported by an all sprint cast both nights of 360 Wing racing along with Great Lakes Traditional Sprints presented by Comp Cams 410 non-wing sprints and the inaugural running of the Great Lakes Lightning Sprints presented by Maxima Racing Oils 1,000 cc winged sprints! A full weekend of all sprints both nights!
With a week off, we move to our first of 4 visits to Tri-City Motor Speedway in Auburn, MI on Friday night of Memorial Weekend, May 22nd. On night 2 of our triple header weekend, we travel a short 70 miles southwest to Crystal Motor Speedway for our first of 2 visits in 2020. Capping off our Memorial Day Weekend of racing, we’ll be back to I-96 Speedway on Sunday, May 24th for another all sprint show with the FAST Sprint Car Series and GLSS.
On June 5th, we travel to Hartford Motor Speedway for our first of 3 races in 2020. We will travel to Hartford with Great Lakes Traditional Sprints presented by Comp Cams for a winged and non-wing show! June 6th will be announced at a later date.
Traveling back to Lake Odessa at I-96 Speedway on June 19th, we’ll be running in our 3rd straight year of the Battle of Speed. Always a crowd favorite seeing the speed of the winged sprints and the top late models sharing the same track on the same night! On Saturday June 20th, GLSS is excited to make our first of 3 visits in 2020 to the Battle Grounds of Butler Motor Speedway where we have been absent from, since our inaugural season in 2016.
We’ll wrap up June making our second visit to Tri-City Motor Speedway on June 26th and then traveling to Crystal Motor Speedway for our last visit of the season on Saturday June 27th.
Giving our drivers the July 4th weekend off, we jump into July with a double weekend starting with our second visit to Hartford Motor Speedway on July 10th. Night 2 takes us to the Premier Dirt Track in Michigan, Merritt Speedway for our first visit since the 2018 season on Saturday , July 11th. Stay tuned for more exciting news regarding this event.
On July 24th, we return home to I-96 Speedway for the Battle of The I-96 Corridor weekend. Racing Friday at Lake Odessa and then traveling west 77 miles on Saturday for our only visit of the season to Thunderbird Raceway. Make sure to not miss this race at Thunderbird, always a great race on the west coast of the state.
Traveling to the east near Saginaw Bay on Friday, July 31st, we make our 3rd visit to Tri-City Motor Speedway. On Saturday, August 1st, we travel down state for our 2nd visit to Butler Motor Speedway near Quincy, MI.
On Friday, August 14th, we’ll make our final visit of the season to Hartford Motor Speedway, sharing the track with our non wing sprints as well. Saturday, August 15th will be announced at a later date.
Making our last appearance of the 2020 season at I-96 Speedway on Friday, August 21st we will be running along with the All Star Circuit of Champions! Saturday, August 22nd we will travel south to the Battle Grounds for an all Sprint Blow Out race featuring 410 winged sprints, 360 winged sprints, Lightning winged sprints and 410 non wing sprints. All 3 groups of the Great Lakes Sprints family will be on display for an end of summer sprint car extravaganza! Don’t miss this one!!!
Wrapping up our points season on Labor Day weekend, we will travel to Tri-City Motor Speedway on Friday, September 4th for our fourth and final visit of the season. Saturday, September 5th will be announced at a later date.
September 18th and 19th, GLSS will once again be supporting the Canadian Sprint Car Nationals at Ohsweken Speedway in Six Nations, Ontario.
