NSTA Moves Lebanon I-44 Race to 2018

NSTA Racing Officials announced today the postponement of the NSTA Top Speed Modified Tour's involvement in the August 26th event at Lebanon I-44 Speedway until the 2018 season. The Roper Classic will still go on as scheduled with the I-44 Modifieds. There were several factors that led to the request from the NSTA and track officials agreed it made more sense to wait until 2018 to begin a partnership.

"While we are extremely disappointed to postpone this event, we appreciate the track's understanding through this process," explained NSTA Modified Tour Director John Robbins. "As we discussed what was possible and talked about what this event could become over the next few years, we decided it made the most sense to turn our focus towards racing in this event during the 2018 season."

Lebanon I-44 Speedway is Missouri's only asphalt oval and has been a proving ground for many successful NASCAR drivers over the years. The track is home to a weekly modified division.

"We believe there's a lot of opportunity with the modifieds at our track and we're excited to build something special at I-44," commented Track Owner David Willard. "There is a bright future here for the NSTA Modifieds and we're looking forward to working during the off-season to design a program that is successful for years to come."

As part of the change regarding the event at Lebanon I-44 Speedway, NSTA Officials also announced the following updates to the 2017 season.

  • The Hot Shoe 100 at Whittemore Speedway will be a non-points event.
  • The Tour will determine its Champion through a traditional points format, instead of a NASCAR-style Chase format.
  • All events will be $1200 to win/$400 to start for all drivers through the end of the season.
