NSTA Top Speed Modified Tour
2017 NSTA Racing Rule Book Released
To All NSTA Racing Competitors,
Today is an exciting day in the evolution of NSTA Racing and the NSTA Top Speed Modified Tour. Our 2017 NSTA Rule Book has been released. I know the last few weeks have been anxious for many of you wondering what changes might take place. Over the last few weeks, I have been fortunate enough to speak with many former series owners, car owners and drivers along with current owners, drivers, industry partners and other motorsports professionals. There are still many more conversations to come.
As promised, our team has made as few technical changes as possible. All of us are very aware of the sacrifices you make and challenges you face to get to our races week in and week out. We also recognize the same challenges facing all of asphalt racing are present in the Tour as well. The NSTA Rule Book is a reflection of the current state of modified racing. We believe there are great opportunities for the Tour, including all of you, to set the direction for modified racing over the next several years. We are working with tracks and series across the country to have frank discussions about the need for a set of standard, common sense rules. Innovation is a key part of racing and we cannot ignore the impact of innovation in 2017 and beyond. At the same time, it is important to remember our roots and embrace the foundation on which modified racing was built.
From this day forward, we must all work together to have an open conversation about the current and future health of modified racing in America. We must embrace innovation, without forgetting our past. We must manage costs. We must reward hours of preparation over number of dollars spent. Cars in the pits, fans in the stands and corporate partners involved are the true measures of success for the Tour. How do you measure your success? (Besides just winning… we know that’s important too)
