Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Announces Schedule Adjustments and Additions

CORONA, CA (March 12, 2010) – Officials of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series have announced that the its’ next event, the 13th Annual “Indiana Icebreaker” on Saturday, March 27th at the Brownstown (IN) Speedway paying $10,000 will be taped for the first time as part of the series’ SPEED TV broadcast schedule. This year will mark the fifth consecutive year the series has sanctioned the popular early season event.

Heading into the event at Brownstown later this month, the Sunoco Race Fuels “Road to Wheatland” still has 23 drivers with perfect attendance with 20 of those drivers having been eligible for the $700 winner’s circle money that is being offered through the end of May. There have been six different winners in the first eight events in 2010 for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series. Reigning series champion, Scott Bloomquist of Mooresburg, TN leads the Lucas Oil Championship Points’ Standings over Don O’Neal of Martinsville, IN; Dale McDowell of Chickamauga, GA; Ray Cook of Brasstown, NC; and Chris Wall of Holden, LA who are tied for fourth in the points. Positions two through seven are separated by a mere 50 points.

In other series news, a schedule change for the month of June has been announced with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series event at Cleveland (TN) Speedway originally scheduled for Friday Night, June 18 moved back a day to Thursday Night, June 17 to coordinate with the just revealed $20,000 to win 2-day show at Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap, TN on June 18 and 19.

The series has also added an event on Friday Night, September 17 at Winchester (VA) Speedway which is now under the guidance of new promoter, Greg Gunter. Several improvements are being made at the historic Virginia oval as the series will sanction a $10,000 to win event the night before the $15,000 race at Virginia Motor Speedway in Saluda, VA on Saturday Night, September 18.
