Inside Line Promotions – ALGER, Wash. (Aug. 9, 2015) – Trey Starks recorded his 15th podium finish of the season on Saturday at Skagit Speedway, which was resurfaced last week.

“It got a little rough in turns three and four at the end of the night,” he said. “I guess it was ok for a first night. It wasn’t the big improvement like I thought we’d see off the bat. Hopefully it will get better with time.”

Starks opened the event by qualifying third quickest. He then finished where he started – third – in a heat race to lock himself into the fourth starting position for the 25-lap feature.

“We had an initial start and had the lead coming out of turn four,” he said. “That got called back. On the second start we were going for the lead going into turn three. They put cones on the infield, which has never been done before. Apparently if you hit a cone you go to the back. We hit a cone on the edge of the infield and got sent to the back.”

Starks was forced to restart at the back of the field after clipping a cone.

“There were three or four cautions throughout the race, which really helped,” he said. “We just picked them off one by one. I think we had the car to win. We just ran out of laps.”

Starks ended with a third-place result, which marked his fifth straight top-five finish.

He enters this weekend’s Western Sprint Tour doubleheader on Friday at Siskiyou Motor Speedway in Yreka, Calif., and Saturday at Southern Oregon Speedway in White City, Ore., as the championship points leader.

“We have a string of good quality races coming up so it’s really important that we are at the top of our game,” he said. “We’re consistent every night. I think we’re in a good position.”
