King of the Wing National Sprintcar Series
2020 KotW Schedule Coming Together; West Coast Returns to 3 Race Format
December 17, 2019 – Mountain Home, ID, The King of the Wing Partners are lining up a very powerful 2020 schedule. The series is pursuing multiple races in 5 different regions. The West Coast Region races will be co-sanctioned with the Gunslinger Sprintcar Series. These races will be the season finale for both series and Champions will be crowned after the last race. Austin Carter, Gunslinger Series Director stated, “The Gunslingers are excited to co-sanction with the King of the Wing series for the finale of both series. These exciting events will bring together the best drivers from the west coast to test themselves against the best in the nation. This is something we’ve been working towards for a few years and to see it finally come to action is
very exciting for us.”
In addition to the West Coast staple combo of Irwindale and Kern County the series will open the final weekend of the 2020 season on Friday November 13th at Havasu 95 Speedway, Lake Havasu, AZ. This quarter mile oval is located on the Arizona/California border. Our regional series last competed at the 95 Speedway in 2015 where Davey Hamilton Jr, set a new track record with a 12.868 second lap and won the 50-lap feature. “This track is a great addition to our already established west coast tour”, said Series Director, Tom Hartsell.
The series will travel to the ½ mile oval at Irwindale Speedway west of Los Angeles for a 30-lap feature event on Saturday November 14th. The series has visited Irwindale 6 times with Bobby Santos winning the last 2 races. Series Admin Director, Bill Adams stated, “This track is a driver favorite and we look forward to having Irwindale as part of our Championship weekend.
The 2020 series will return to the traditional Sunday running of the George “Ziggy” Snyder Classic on Sunday November 15th at Kern County Raceway Parks high banked ½ mile in Bakersfield California for 30 laps of wheel to wheel action. “Bobby Santos dominated the 2019 race at the fastest track the series races on and we will be crowning the series Champion at this
final event”, stated Chuck Handley, Series Race Director.

About the King of the Wing Series:
The “King of the Wing” National Sprintcar Series is designed to work with all teams, promoters, fans and sponsors, to strengthen pavement Winged Sprintcar racing from coast to coast. Working directly with all existing pavement Sprintcar Series. The Series was founding principle is to provide a competitive rules package that can apply to all Sprintcars and create race events that truly allows the promoters and racers to build bigger venues, show the sponsors and fans the world's fastest short track cars, and to promote the
best short track drivers competing head-to-head no matter what part of the country they are from or what Series they run on a regular basis. This is the only pavement Sprintcar Series that features competitors from across the United States and Canada. Since its inception in 2014 the series has run 51 races at 19 different tracks. A total of 175 different drivers have competed with an average of 23 cars at every race.Total purse money over the 4 years is over $925,000. Our King of the Wing Series Champions are: Jojo Helberg - 2014, Aaron Pierce - 2015, Davey Hamilton Jr. - 2016, Johnny Giesler - 2017, and Eric Humphries – 2018 and 2019. All KotW races are filmed and broadcast at a later date for free on iTEN TV on the ROKU Platform.
