Xavier Doney Prepares for POWRi WAR Break-Out Season

Belleville, IL. (02/09/2021) Beginning his racing career in 2012, at the age of 7 years old, Odessa Missouri’s Xavier Doney would cut his teeth among the quarter-midget racing-ranks over the next few seasons by quickly racking up the hardware. Making the transition into micro sprints in 2017, Doney immediately became a prominent front-runner. Finishing fifth in the restricted class at the Tulsa Shootout in 2018, Doney would gain the hard charger award in Tulsa the following year. Then, in 2020 Doney flexed his driving might by rounding out the podium, in both the wing and non-wing races, at Sweet Springs Motor Complex’s yearly Show-Me Showdown.

Earning the opportunity to compete in non-wing sprint racing in late-2020, Doney would embark on new possibilities behind the wheel of the Design Source Flooring, Lawson Racing, Doney Racing, Window World, Superior Auto, Kissler 410, DRC Chassis #74 at just fourteen years old. Making his first start at the Second Annual Non-Wing Nationals at Lake Ozark Speedway with the POWRi WAR Sprint League. Confident in his choices to move-up classes, Xavier would race through the B-Feature to qualify for the main event in just his first night out. Starting twenty-first in an incredibly talented grid would find Doney wheeling his way through the field to finish night-one with an eleventh placing.

Backing up his debut performance Doney would impress once again with what was in store the very next night. Winning the B-Feature, Xavier would start seventeenth on the main-field and pass twelve cars on his way to rounding out the top-five in just his second night in a full-size non-wing sprint car.

Competing against the nation’s top-talents would next find Xavier testing his youthful driving-skills at the Tenth Annual Jesse Hockett/Daniel McMillin Memorial at Lucas Oil Speedway within the POWRi Lucas Oil WAR Sprint League. Not only would Doney be up to the daunting challenge of three-straight nights of racing at the Diamond of the Dirt Tracks but would make a statement over the weekend event with three solid showings of feature-event racing.

Proving to have the talent well beyond his years, Xavier always seems to find successes on the track. If his first five races of non-wing competition are any hints to his future, then take notice as he eye’s the Rookie of the Year honors within the POWRi Lucas Oil Wingless Auto Racing Sprint League. Currently planning to compete full-time in 2021, Doney could be aiming for both the ROTY title as well as a points championship when the season kicks off at the Third Annual Non-Wing Nationals at Lake Ozark Speedway on April 2-3.

Wanting to gain all the seat-time and driving experiences as possible, Xavier is planning on running a limited midget and micro schedule in the 2021 season including dates with the POWRi Lucas Oil National and West Midget Leagues as well as the POWRi Engler Machine & Tool 600cc Outlaw Micros.
