Sewell Leads POWRi West Push this Saturday at I-44 Riverside Speedway
The Lucas Oil POWRi West Midget Series has roared to life just four races into their first full calendar campaign. The West warriors joined their National neighbors last month to break the ice with 50 Midgets on hand.
Less than two weeks ago, the POWRi West Midget Series stood on its' own for the first time, showcasing high quality shows with 24 entries at Sapulpa's Creek County Speedway before switching southwest to home turf and feature 16 entries to a packed house at I-44 Riverside Speedway.
This Saturday, April 26th the POWRi West Midgets return to I-44 Riverside for the second of 9 outings at Oklahoma City's premier auto racing venue.
Tulsa's Alex Sewell leads the charge into race #5 (of 15), despite being the recipient of the KBR Performance / BOSS Chassis Hard Luck Award at the most recent Riverside outing. Sewell led the first 23 laps of the main event, but blew a tire on the restart, handing the win to fellow Tulsan Johnathon Halford.
Sewell takes a 60 point advantage into OKC with Owasso native and Creek County winner Matt Sherrell tied with Choctaw's Cody Brewer in the close chase. Owasso rookie Ty Hulsey and Edmond's Matt Johnson fill out the top five in points entering the return to Riverside.
A full field of racers from Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas, Missouri, Arkansas, and Wyoming will converge on Riverside's 1/5th mile, red clay high banks to delight what is sure to another packed house of hearty race fans in Oklahoma City.
Race day gates open at 4pm with hot laps at 6pm. The program officially begins at 7pm.
General admission is $10. Pit passes $20.
