Driven Midwest Cup Approaching for Driven Midwest USAC NOW600 National Series
DRUMRIGHT, Okla. (October 10, 2017) - The three day extravaganza of micro sprint racing is rapidly approaching for the Driven Midwest USAC NOW600 National Championship.
The Driven Midwest Cup happens on Friday, October 20 and runs through Sunday, October 22 at Caney Valley Speedway in Caney, Kansas.
Friday and Saturday night will follow standard NOW600 format. Drivers will draw for heat race position and passing points will be used to lineup the Semi’s and A-Main events.
On Sunday, there will be three (3) Driven Midwest Cup Mains for each of the three (3) divisions, once 20 cars have qualified. Highest overall finisher after the three Cup Mains have concluded will be crowned the winner. A $1000 prize awaits winners in Winged A-Class and Stock Non-Wing with $500 going to the top driver in Restricted ‘A’ Class competition.
The NOW600 Sportsman class will be run a full show each night.
CUP BONUS! If a driver wins all three Main Events in Winged A-Class and Stock Non-Wing, they will get a $2000 bonus. Winning all three in Restricted ‘A’ Class nets a $1000 bonus. Regular NOW600 purse will be paid per class after Cup Main No. 3 with your combined finishing spots determining your finishing order.
THE FORMAT:
Friday, October 20 and Saturday, October 21:
Standard NOW600 National Series Format. Drivers will draw for Heat Race starting spots, passing points will be used to lineup each nights Semi’s and Main Events.
Following Saturday night’s program, the Top 14 in event points from both Friday and Saturday will be locked into the Sunday’s Cup for the Stock Non-Wing, Winged A-Class and Restricted ‘A’ Class divisions.
Drivers sitting in position 15-30 in event points will run in Sunday afternoons LCQ with the Top 6 transferring into the Cup. The LCQ will be 10-laps and will run before the first Cup Main.
Sunday, October 22:
LCQ’s for the Stock Non-Wing, Winged A-Class and Restricted ‘A’ Class will be first up after Hot Laps. The Top 6 in the LCQ will transfer to the Cup.
Driven Midwest Cup Main 1: The Top 14 drivers that are locked into the Cup Mains will draw for their starting spots in the first Cup Main. The 6 drivers that transferred into the Cup from the LCQ will be lined up straight up on the LCQ finish.
Driven Midwest Cup Main 2: Passing points from Cup Main 1 will be tallied with the Top 8 in passing points being inverted with drivers 9-20 being lined up straight up off their passing points from Cup Main 1.
Driven Midwest Cup Main 3: Passing points from both Cup Main 1 and 2 will be totaled together and drivers will be lined straight up off their combined passing points from the previous two Cup Mains.
Each Driven Midwest Cup Main will be 12 laps in distance or 15 minutes for all three classes.
THE CUP POINTS:
The winner is determined via overall scores from the three Cup Mains. Points are rewarded Olympic-style, meaning a win gets 1 point, a second gets 2, etc.
The driver with the lowest amount of points after third Driven Midwest Cup Main will be crowned champion of the Driven Midwest Cup.
If a driver in Winged A-Class and Stock Non-Wing wins all three Cup Mains they will get a $2000 bonus!
If a driver in Restricted ‘A’ Class wins all three Cup Mains they will get a $1000 bonus!
