Inside Line Promotions – ANTIOCH, Calif. (April 5, 2017) – Chase Johnson will make his debut at Kern County Raceway Park this Saturday for the first-ever King of the West-NARC Fujitsu Sprint Car Series event at the track.
Johnson and the Shawn and Cyndi Thomas owned team are excited about the potential of a new track for all the competitors.
“I really think we have a good thing with the No. 68 team,” he said. “We have a great program and setup. Going to a new track for everyone makes a team like ours be equal to a team that’s been around for 15 years. Plus, I always love going to new tracks.”
Johnson is coming off a frustrating night last Saturday at Antioch Speedway with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour.
“We qualified bad and were in the back of everything,” he said. “We missed the gear setup for qualifying. We’d never been there with that motor so we weren’t sure. It was too low so we weren’t going as fast as we needed. Then we had a stacked heat race. I went forward, but it didn’t matter if we didn’t lock into the feature because the C Main was based on qualifying.”
Johnson qualified 10th quickest in his group. He maneuvered from 10th to seventh place in a heat race, but only the top three locked in the main event. That relegated him to the C Main, where he advanced from fifth to third place to miss out on a transfer by only one position.
“We were fast, but the format relies so much on qualifying,” he said. “Those two laps set up the entire night and we didn’t have two good laps. It was frustrating, but not every night in racing goes your way. I want to thank my team for their hard work and never-give-up attitude. We’ll move on to the race in Bakersfield this weekend and put that last one behind us.”

SPONSOR SPOTLIGHT – Woodland Napa Auto Parts
In 1925, a group of independent auto parts sellers met in Detroit to form the National Automotive Parts Association. Their mission was simple: improve the distribution of auto parts to serve the people and businesses who increasingly relied on cars and trucks for their transportation needs. In 1936, NAPA opened its first location and nearly a century later, NAPA continues to serve auto service professionals, do-it-yourselfers and everyday drivers with quality parts and supplies to keep cars, trucks and equipment performing safely and efficiently.
In the U.S., NAPA now includes more than 58 distribution centers, 16,000 NAPA AutoCare Centers and more than 6,000 independently-owned and company-owned stores. NAPA carries an extensive inventory of more than 475,000 parts for automotive and industrial applications. For more information, visit https://www.napaonline.com/en/wa/woodland/store/24961.
