Hagar Riding Momentum in Midget Entering USAC Shamrock Classic

Inside Line Promotions – MARION, Ark. (March 3, 2020) – Derek Hagar has lofty goals this Saturday when he invades the Southern Illinois Center during the Shamrock Classic.

The Hagar Proctor Racing driver is aiming for a top-five finish at the USAC NOS Energy Drink National Midget Series event in Du Quoin, Ill. He recorded his career-best series result in 2018 with a third-place run inside the building.

“We can run good there,” he said. “We just need the breaks and to have luck on our side.

“It’s so small. It’s even smaller than the Chili Bowl. It’s flat and the race track changes quick so you have to stay on top of it. You have to know when to move and when to make a move on someone in front of you. You have to do something quick or on the first lap. If you get a long green-flag run and your car is good you can make some moves as well.”

Hagar is coming off a career-best finish during the Chili Bowl Midget Nationals in January.

“We’re pretty confident,” he said. “We learned a lot with a new car to us and had our best performance at the Chili Bowl. We’re looking forward to carrying that momentum over to Du Quoin.”

Hagar is hopeful to kick off his sprint car season in his No. 9jr either later this month or in early April.
