Cannon McIntosh Claims Second Straight POWRi SPEEDWeek Championship Title

Belleville, IL. (6/28/2022) Winning three of five nights in Land of Lincoln racing, Cannon McIntosh of Bixby, Oklahoma would silence any doubters as to who would be the title-holder in the Ninth Annual POWRi Illinois SPEEDWeek Champion.

Sporting the Dave Mac Dalby Motorsports, Cresent, GearWrench, Toyota Racin Development, Mobil 1, Spike Chassis, Speedway Toyota Racing Engine #08; McIntosh adds the second-straight SPEEDWeek championship to his long list of accomplishments and joins Christopher Bell (2013 & 2015) and Logan Seavey (2018 & 2019) as the only drivers to have repeat POWRi Illinois SPEEDWeek titles.

Beginning the five-night stretch of action strong by winning at Charleston Speedway, Cannon would find himself starting twenty-second the following night at Fayette County Speedway only to hard-charge through the field to battle Bryant Wiedeman and eventually earn runner-up placement in an instant-classic.

Finding victory lane on nights three and four at Lincoln Speedway and Macon Speedway, Cannon McIntosh would notch his fourth career POWRi National Midget SPEEDWeek Victory over the week-long Illinois tradition, tying Michael “Buddy” Kofoid for second in all-time wins and second only to Tanner Thorson with eight career wins.

Wrapping up the SPEEDWeek Championship at Jacksonville Speedway on Sunday night, Cannon would find himself in the hunt for the feature victory only to finish a consistent fourth in the historic event won by Jade Avedisian.

Final Top-Ten for the Lucas Oil POWRi National Midget League 2022 Illinois SPEEDWeek Championship Standings: 1. 08-Cannon McIntosh, 2. 01-Bryant Wiedeman, 3. 97K-Kaidon Brown, 4. 97-Brenham Crouch, 5. 61-Jacob Denney, 6. 83-Dominic Gorden, 7. 87-Jace Park, 8. 25K-Taylor Reimer, 9. 21K-Karter Sarff, 10. 5-Gavan Boschele.

Heading into the second half of the season for the Lucas Oil POWRi National Midget League, can Cannon McIntosh continue to ride the hot streak of momentum as he currently resides atop the 2022 point championship standings over all other competitors with twelve feature events on the season.
