Bobby Layne Bags POWRi MLS Victory with CMS Next

Belleville, IL. (05/03/2021) Back at their home-racing facility of I-35 Speedway, the Lucas Oil POWRi Midwest Lightning Sprints would visit Winston Missouri with plenty of excitement throughout the field for nearly every position. When the final checkers were displayed the legendary list of career victories continues to grow for Bobby Layne as he captured his first win of the young 2021 season.

Witnessing a fantastic heat race where Bobby Layne picked up the early racing win, the field was set for the feature event with the legendary Layne leading the pack of Lucas Oil Midwest Lightning Sprinters to the initial green flag start.

Picking up where he finished in the heat race, the very fast Layne would not waste any time spreading himself from the other POWRi MLS competitors, taking the lead to never relinquish the top spot. A trio of cautions would keep the field together with Layne able to hold the lead on each restart. Winner of the previous two Midwest Lightning Sprint events, Chase Fischer would capitalize on the final laps to steal second away from the third-place finisher and perennial front-runner Tony Layne as Kenny Bowers hard-charged his way to place fourth with Jeff Bard rounding out the features top-five finishers.
