Chase McDermand Claims Victory at Davenport Speedway with POWRi National Midgets

Belleville, IL. (8/26/22) Chase McDermand found the fastest line late around Davenport Speedway to capture his third victory of 2022 with the Lucas Oil POWRi National Midget League running in conjunction with the Xtreme Outlaw Midget Series presented by Toyota to kick off the weekend quarter-mile Iowa sweep.

Early Davenport Speedway competition with twenty-seven Lucas Oil POWRi National Midget League drivers entered would see Cannon McIntosh start the fastest with a 14.229-second group qualifying lap as Jesse Love, Brenham Crouch, and Daison Pursley each would earn heat racing wins with Ethan Mitchell notching a semi-feature victory.

Setting the field of competitors would find high point qualifier Brenham Crouch would draw an invert of four to set the feature lineup with Jade Avedisian and Bryant Wiedeman in the front row.

Going green flag feature racing would find Jade Avedisian would use a low-to-mid line momentum on the opening lap to take the early racing lead as third starting Jesse Love and Bryant Weideman quickly gained with Chase McDermand and Brenham Crouch inside the top-five.

Taking the front of the field by using an extreme highline, Bryant Wiedeman would battle a low-line running Jesse Love with Chase McDermand trying to find a way around the leading pair.

Swapping the top-spot several times over several laps, Bryant Wiedeman and Jesse Love would appear to be the fastest on track until the Mounce-Stout Motorsports team would pounce at the mid-point with Jacob Denney shooting through the middle to the lead as McDermand followed into the runner-up positioning.

Restarting from a lap fifteen caution, Jacob Denney would lead McDermand, Wiedeman, Love, Crouch, and Zach Daum back to green with a caution flag quickly being displayed as Crouch, Love and Daum would all be collected in the jumbled restart.

Finding green-flag conditions displayed Denney would remain in the lead until a smooth Chase McDermand overtook for the front of the field in turns one-and-two as Jacob Denney maintained runner-up with a low-running Dominic Gorden in the mix running third.

Dashing for a two-lap finale, Chase McDermand would not be denied in gaining his third Lucas Oil POWRi National Midget feature victory of the season. “Everybody at Mounce-Stout Motorsports this one is going to be big for us all, we didn’t have the best start but the car really came into its own after that long caution” stated a celebratory Chase McDermand in the Davenport Iowa Victory Ceremony.

Dominic Gorden would maintain a solid showing to finish runner-up getting by one-time leader Jacob Denney that would complete the features podium placements. Returning to much fan-fare Daison Pursely would finish the night fourth as Gavin Miller rounded out the Lucas Oil POWRi National Midget League/Xtreme Outlaw Midget Series top-five finishers at Davenport Speedway Night One.
