Hagar Charges to Top-10 Finish With POWRi National Midgets at I-30 Speedway

Inside Line Promotions – LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (Oct. 23, 2019) – Derek Hagar posted his best midget result of the year last Saturday when he recorded a sixth-place finish during a POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget League event at I-30 Speedway.

“We started third in our heat race,” he said. “There was a late restart and we fell back a little. We ended up finishing fifth. Not exactly the run we were wanting to start off the night with.”

Because of his heat race finish Hagar had to start 13th in the A Main. Fortunately, his car was good and he was able to pass a lot of cars. Hagar charged from 13th to sixth to garner the Hard Charger Award for passing the most cars.

“I was up to fourth at one point,” he said. “I ended up losing a couple spots and we came home with a sixth-place finish. Overall, it was a pretty decent run.”

Hagar competed against stiff competition, including midget standouts Holley Hollan, Andrew Felker, Cannon McIntosh and Jesse Colwell, who ended up winning the race.

“There were good cars all night long,” Hagar said. “I felt like we did really well for not racing midgets consistently. Maybe next year we can get a couple more of these races in.”
