Win #2 For "Hurricane" Katrina Comes At North Central Speedway

It was Kids Night at the North Central Speedway, and the UMSS Traditional Sprint Car Series (TSCS) was making its first appearance of the season and first since the inaugural year for the non-winged sprints back in 2011. Superior, Wisconsin driver "Hurricane" Katrina Sautbine continued her winning ways during the early portion of the 2013 season, as she picked up her second career TSCS sprint car feature victory during the past two weeks. So far, Katrina Sautbine is the only female driver to win in any of the three UMSS divisions.

Jimmy Kouba topped the Ultimate Sprint Heat with Johnny Parsons III taking home the checkers in the Challenge Race. The feature saw Parsons and rookie of the year candidate Mike Mueller on the front row. Mueller led the opening lap over Parsons, but it was Sautbine coming from her row two starting spot to the lead on the second lap! Contact between Sautbine and Parsons in turn four on lap three saw both cars able to maintain control with Sautbine narrowly ahead of Parsons at the line. Sautbine continued to lead with Parsons a close second and Mueller in third.

On lap 7, Parsons got too low exiting turn two, clipped one of the infield tires, and flipped. Parsons was okay, but his night was over. Sautbine maintained her lead on the restart with Mueller in second and Lucas Milz now running third. As the laps clicked by under green, Mueller began to close in on the leader. On a couple of occasions, Mueller was able to pull alongside Sautbine but was unable to complete the pass and grab the lead.

At the checkers, it was Sautbine over Mueller followed by Milz, Jimmy Kouba, another rookie contender Brian VanMeveren, defending series champion Rob Caho Jr, Cam Schafer and Parsons.

TSCS Feature Finish (18 laps): 9 Sautbine, 87 Mueller, 60 Milz, 2K Kouba, 24 VanMeveren, 78 Caho, 54 Schafer, 12 Parsons DNF.

Lap Leaders: Mueller 1, Sautbine 2-18.
Cautions: (1) red on lap 7 for Parsons flip.
