Inside Line Promotions – NEW RICHMOND, Wis. (Sept. 12, 2018) – Ryan Bowers competed with the Upper Midwest Sprint Car Series last Saturday during the Jerry Richert Memorial at Cedar Lake Speedway.
Bowers entered the event leading the championship standings, but after a rough finish he now sits second.
“We started fourth in the heat race and finished third,” he said. “Our car felt all right and we were satisfied with the outcome. That lined us up to start seventh in the feature.”
Bowers was running well until there was only nine laps remaining. Unfortunately, he suffered a parts failure and the rear end broke. He was relegated to an 18th-place finish.
“We were pretty bummed to have our car break during the feature,” he said. “We’ve previously had some success at this race, but it wasn’t in the cards this time. Now we’re sitting second in the 2018 UMSS points standings.”
Bowers is only 10 points behind the leader and still has a shot at winning the title. If he wins this Saturday during the season finale at Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minn., Bowers can clinch the championship.
“We’re just going to go out there and do like we do every night,” he said. “We’re going to have some fun and try to get the most out of the car as possible. That’s all you can do; race like normal and try to get to the front.”
