Schedule Updated, May 27 Race Moved to June 17

With the final sales papers for the purchase of the Kopellah Speedway expected to be signed later this week, UMSS CDO Ron Bernhagen indicated that the necessary track work and upgrades in order to open the facility will not be completed prior to the original planned opening date of May 27. The UMSS winged sprint car program scheduled for May 27 has been moved back three weeks to Friday night June 17 in order to give the new owners time to get the track and grounds in race-ready condition.

The track is going to be renamed St. Croix Valley Raceway, and the UMSS schedule has been updated to reflect the name change for all three UMSS winged sprint car shows slated for the 1/4 mile oval located between St. Croix Falls and Centuria in west central Wisconsin. "Our initial outlook and expectations to be able to open by the end of May just will not work out. This sale and everything related to it have taken much longer than hoped for, but we are now in the final stages of making it a reality," stated Bernhagen. There is a tremendous amount of work that needs to take place in the upcoming weeks with necessary safety upgrades one of the primary concerns regarding insurance. The planned opening night program is now scheduled to take place Friday June 10 with all weekly classes slated to be in action that evening.

A new website for St. Croix Valley Raceway is in the process of being designed and will be on-line as soon as possible. Requests for further information or questions regarding St. Croix Valley Raceway can be directed to Ron Bernhagen at 612-363-5302. Please stay tuned for further details.
