Inside Line Promotions – SAPULPA, Okla. (May 13, 2014) – It’s already been a busy week for Jordan Weaver, who is having to fix her sprint car after being caught up in a crash for the second straight weekend.
“I spent nine hours beating out nerf bars yesterday,” she said. “I’ve got a lot to do.”
Weaver had started last Friday at Creek County Speedway with the ASCS Sooner Region on a positive note. She advanced from fourth to third place in her heat race, which earned Weaver enough points to advance directly into the main event.
“I was rolling in that heat race,” she said. “The car was awesome. I was working on getting around second, but I made a mistake and fell back a ways. Luckily I got enough to go to the A Main.”
However, after starting on the inside of the seventh row, Weaver was involved in a crash in turns three and four on the second lap of the feature.
“It got the left rear tire, but we were stuck in the work area,” she said. “There was some pretty heavy front end damage, but I think we would have been able to continue.”
The race restarted with Weaver still in the work area replacing the damaged tire. She was credited with an 18th-place result.
Weaver is slated to race with the NCRA this Saturday during the sprint car debut at Longdale Speedway in Longdale, Okla.
“It’s going to be the first 360 sprint car race at the track,” she said. “It’s pretty close to our house so this’ll be the first time we don’t have to drive three hours to a track. I’m looking forward to it.”
