Super Gen Products CRSA Sprints To Crown 2020 Champion In “Legendary” Fashion Saturday
Press Release by: Steven Ovens – September 23rd, 2020 – Ken Dippel photo –
(SODUS, NY) – The Super Gen Products CRSA Sprints have battled their way through a tumultuous and abbreviated 2020 tour that saw many events fall from the calendar due to New York State restrictions on motorsports facilities.
In a season where everyone in the racing community learned to “expect the unexpected,” there are more changes ahead to wrap up the 2020 CRSA Sprints Series. Series officials recently learned that the tour championship event scheduled for October at Afton Motorsports Park, part of Brett Deyo’s annual Short Track Super Nationals, would not happen and plans were made to move the event to Gary Folk’s Penn Can Speedway. Unfortunately, scheduling challenges on many fronts will not allow this event relocation to take place.
That leaves this Saturday night at Paul Cole’s Land of Legends Raceway as the 2020 tour championship event. Big plans were already in place for this thriller on the Ontario County half-mile and adding championship night will just raise the bar as CRSA joins Land of Legends’ “Stars of Tomorrow Spectacular.”
Saturday’s event will pay a cool $1,000 to the winner with added bonuses throughout the top five finishers courtesy of Mike Emhof Motorsports- owners and operators of the CRSA Sprints. The 25-lap A-Main will pay $650 for second, $400 for third, $300 for fourth and $250 for fifth. The event will pay $150 just to take Scott Hixson’s green flag.
In addition to the posted purse and staple series contingency awards, a great effort has gone in to selling lap sponsorships. These awards will circulate throughout the Top 5 in the running order during the feature.
As much as there is to look forward to in the event purse and bonuses- there is also a tight point battle that will be decided at the end of 12.5 miles to crown the 2020 CRSA Sprints champion.
Darryl Ruggles comes into the championship event with a twelve-point advantage over both 2020 Land of Legends Raceway MEM 305 Sprints track champion Alysha Bay and micro sprint graduate Trevor Years. All of which compete weekly at Land of Legends Raceway in CRSA-sanctioned 305 Sprint competition, making Saturday night a potential ‘perfect’ homecoming.
Just one marker back of the tie for second place is Dana Wagner in fourth, with a three-way tie for third between Penn Can Speedway winner Josh Flint, defending series champion Jeff Trombley and six-time CRSA feature winner Thomas Radivoy.
All heats and the 25-lap A-Main will award points on Saturday night, with heats awarding 12 points to the qualifying heat winner and reducing by one point per position down the finish order. The A-Main awards 150 points to the winner, reduces by four points to second place and then two points to third place and each position thereafter (150, 146, 144, 142…).
With so many different point scenarios in place and the combination of heat points in play- there is not any of the Top 10 in points that are mathematically out of the running to claim the 2020 CRSA Sprints championship.
As of this press release, Land of Legends Raceway intends to have race fans in attendance in their grandstands this Saturday night, giving CRSA Sprints fans two ways to catch this thrilling finish to their 2020 season. General Admission is $15 for adults, Kids 15 and under $5 with gates opening at 4:00PM. Live streaming video coverage will be available on Land of Legends TV for just $14.95 by logging on to www.landoflegendstv.com
Drivers are welcome to arrive at the track mid to late afternoon to unload and set up. The pits will be cleared to pay to get in at 3:00PM. Pit passes will be $40. Heat in motors is scheduled for 5:00PM, Hot Laps 5:05PM and Racing at 6:00PM. Free camping is available on site along the tree line in the General Admission parking area, carry in carry out policy.
