‘Red Hot’ Damion Gardner Enters Non-Winged Knoxville Nationals, As Do Johnny Herrera & Tracy Hines
KNOXVILLE, IOWA (April 14, 2010) - Current United States Auto Club (USAC) Amsoil Sprint Car Series national championship point leader Damion Gardner of Concord, California, has entered the inaugural Non-Winged Knoxville Nationals on Sunday, August 8, as have 2002 USAC sprint car champion Tracy Hines of Indiana and ’09 Knoxville Raceway winged 410-cubic-inch sprint car champion Johnny Herrera of New Mexico. The ‘early bird’ entry deadline is fast approaching on Thursday, April 15.
The inaugural Non-Winged Knoxville Nationals will pay $5,000 to win and $425 to start, with those that ‘do not qualify’ set to earn $200. The event is an official point race on the 2010 Amsoil USAC Sprint Car National Championship series schedule. According to Marion County Fairboard member Grant Rankin, “We handed out entry forms on Easter weekend at an open-competition non-winged sprint car event at North Vernon, Indiana, and we received a lot of positive feedback about our August 8 event. The teams like the closeness of our event to Terry McCarl’s Ultimate Challenge event at the Southern Iowa Fairgrounds in nearby Oskaloosa on Tuesday, August 10. And we are thrilled to have red-hot Damion Gardner and Knoxville regular Johnny Herrera pre-enter our event.”
