(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) June 22, 2016 – After encountering several challenges in adjusting to the nuances of a brand new car through the first seven races of the 2016 season, the Paul Pokorski Motorsports team came into Plymouth Dirt Track Racing action last Saturday at Sheboygan County Fair Park with high hopes for a strong performance.

The evening featured a pit area packed with a total of 64 Sprint Cars, as the Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series made its first of three scheduled appearances at The Plymouth Dirt Track this season.

With 29 PDTR Sprint Cars on hand, Pokorski started third in the third PDTR Sprint Car heat race. On the opening lap of the race, Pokorski slipped underneath front row starter Doug Wondra with a low move in turn two.

Pokorski then settled into the runner-up spot behind race leader Chris Clayton. The 24-year veteran West Bend racer held strong in the second position, while Clayton maintained a comfortable lead throughout the 10-lap heat race. Pokorski went on to cross the finish line in second place, a half straightaway behind race winner Clayton to lock himself into the 25-lap A main event.

After starting ninth in the 22-car A main event, Pokorski found himself battling with Robbie Pribnow for ninth place in the opening laps of the race. As Pokorski worked the low groove, Pribnow followed closely behind.

The spirited duel between Pokorski and Pribnow continued in very close quarters for several laps with contact made on a couple of occasions. On lap 10, the battle came to a head when Pribnow collided with Pokorski in turn three, causing Pokorski to spin to a stop to bring out a caution flag.

Due to the nature of the contact, officials elected to send both Pokorski and Pribnow to the rear of the field on the restart.

When the race resumed, Pokorski moved up to the outside groove in an attempt to work his way up from 19th place. Pokorski managed to move past three cars in the closing laps to bring his 2016 Maxim home in the 16th position.

“I thought the car was really good in hot laps and pretty good in the heat race,” Pokorski said. “I thought the car was alright in the feature and we were holding our own until we got spun out. That's about all I have to say on that.”

After encountering challenging track conditions on several occasions at Plymouth this season, Pokorski was pleased with the evening’s multi-groove racing surface.

“I thought the track on Saturday night was the best it's been in a very long time,” Pokorski said. “I hope they can replicate it in the nights to come.”

Looking ahead to the upcoming weekend Midwest Sprint Car Association doubleheader at Manitowoc Speedway and The Plymouth Dirt Track, Pokorski is eager to get back to Manitowoc. During the last MSA main event at Manitowoc on June 3, Pokorski was in the mix for the A main victory, before eventually posting a season-best fourth place finish.

“I can't wait to go to Manitowoc,” Pokorski said. “The last time we were there the racing was incredible and the track prep was perfect.”
