Mark Smith collects third 2020 USCS Winter Heat main event at Dothan Motor Speedway
Dothan, AL - February 22, 2020 - "Mr. Saturday night", Mark Smith from Sunbury, PA raced to his sixth trip in-a-row to the www.RockAuto.com USCS Victory Lane going back to last season in the 30-lap USCS Outlaw Thunder Tour presented by K&N Filters while besting a stellar 20 car field on a chilly Saturday night at Dothan Motor Speedway.The event was also the USCS Winter Heat 2020 Round #3 event. Smith also won Rounds #1 and #2.
Seven-time Knoxville, Iowa's 410 Sprint Car track Champion Terry McCarl from Altoona, Iowa finished behind Smith in the runneup spot, although he took the lead early in the race, Former All Star Circuit of Champions titleist Greg Wilson from Benton Ridge, Ohio finished in the final podium spot, The 2019 Patriot Sprint Series Champion Davie Franek, from Wantang, New Jersey was fourth and Rookie of the Year contender,15 year-old Conner Leoffler from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina rounded out the top five.
Defending USCS Outlaw Thunder Tour National Champion Terry Gray from Bartlett, Tennessee led the next group in sixth place. Sprint Car Hall f fame member, Danny Smith from Chillicothe, Ohio was seventh , Newvie, Pennsylvania's Jim Shuster was eighth, Terry Witherspoon from Jacksonville, Florida was ninth and Shawn Murray also from Jacksonville completed the top ten.
Davie Franek won Saturday night's USCS Hoosier Speed Dash at Dothan Motor Speedway.Heat Race Winners were Ontario's Aaron Turkey in the Engler 1st Heat, Iowa's Terry McCarl in the BMRS 2nd Heat and New Jersey's Davie Franek also won the Butlerbuilt 3rd Heat. Terry Witherspoon from Jacksonville, Florida garnered the Wilwood Disc Brakes Hard Charger Award after advancing 8 spots in the A-main event.
