Motor hiccup ends Steffens' Bettenhausen 100 effort; Ted Horn 100 on deck
Kyle Steffens was on pace to do big things in the 62nd Bettenhausen 100 at Illinois State Fairgrounds in Springfield, Illinois, that until a motor issue plagued his effort, forced to surrender early in the USAC Silver Crown program. The Missouri native qualified sixth overall and was battling for a top-ten at the time his motor let go; he was scored 21st.
Steffens will work for USAC Silver Crown redemption on Saturday, August 30, as the big cars are set to invade Du Quoin State Fairgrounds in Du Quoin, Illinois, for the Ted Horn 100.
