Despite Adversity, Michael Races to Best Start of Career
Longdale Speedway, Oklahoma's newest racing facility, hosted the OCRS season opener. WINDY conditions, with dust generated by the powerful sprinters, reminded the fans of the dust bowl history of the state. Michael was competing for the lead on the 2nd lap of the first "B" Feature when his brakes went out. Racing without brakes, he raced to a 2nd place finish in the "B". Thanks to the help of fellow racer, Brandon Jennings, the BiGFooT team was able to replace the broken front brake caliper and pads and make the transfer to the "A" Feature. Yet brake problems continued to plague Michael while he managed to finish 17th in the "A". The BiGFooT team recognizes and thanks Brandon Jennings for his help and extends their thanks to Jesse and Scott Kline (Michael's cousins from nearby Alva) for their attendance and help in the pits. After the races, a family brought their young son to the pits to meet Michael and see the BiGFooT sprinter. It was his birthday and to help him celebrate, he sat in the car, got his picture taken, and received a checkered flag and picture card from Michael. It made for an enjoyable finish for the evening for the team. Taking the Easter weekend off, Michael will return to Southern Oklahoma Speedway in Ardmore in two weeks for his next race.
