Blaney Records Two Top Fives at Tuscarora 50 to Extend All Star Points Lead

Inside Line Promotions – PORT ROYAL, Pa. (Sept. 13, 2016) – Dale Blaney produced an efficient and effective weekend with the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions last Friday and Saturday at Port Royal Speedway.

Blaney led the Mainstream Holdings, Inc., sponsored CH Motorsports team to a pair of top-five finishes during the Tuscarora 50 to extend his lead in the All Star championship standings to 22 points with only four races remaining this season.

“It was a good weekend overall,” he said. “Port Royal is always a good place for us. That place fits our style of what we do. The only thing I was disappointed in all weekend was how we qualified both nights. We qualified bad enough to put us on the pole of our heat race both nights, which definitely helped.”

The action began on Friday with Blaney qualifying ninth quickest overall and fourth in his group. That lined him up on the pole of a heat race, where a runner-up result locked him into the dash.

“It played out pretty good,” he said. “I ran well in the heat. Lucas Wolfe passed us with a couple laps to go. I felt good about the dash. Getting into the second row was pretty big.”

Blaney picked up a position in the dash to finish fourth and start the main event on the outside of the second row.

“We just maintained in the feature,” he said. “I was running third for a while and Lucas passed me late. We went back and forth for third for a while. It was a good points night for us.”

Blaney ended with a fourth-place finish, which was his 33rd top five of the season.

The event concluded on Saturday with Blaney qualifying 10th quickest before he won a heat race to advance into the feature redraw.

“We pushed out onto the track for driver introductions and didn’t know where we were going to start,” he said. “It was a little different. We drew a three so we started third. I jumped right to second and I pressured (Greg) Hodnett for a little early. It was a 50-lap race and you have to run the same tires so it was difficult to press. I wanted to show him my nose and make him run harder. (Lance) Dewease got by us and then Hodnett broke so that put us second. We were back and forth with Stevie for the second half of the race.”

Blaney scored a third-place result to wrap up the weekend on a strong note.

“It was a good overall weekend for us,” he said. “I’m not sure what we could have done better in the A Main on Saturday night. Any time you can go over there and run in the top five two nights in a row it’s a good weekend.”
