Inside Line Promotions – MESQUITE, Texas (Sept. 22, 2020) – Mason Daniel earned his career-best World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series result last Friday during his debut at Lawton Speedway.

Daniel’s 11th-place outing was followed by a 15th-place run on Saturday at Devil’s Bowl Speedway during the Texas Outlaw Nationals. It marked his career-best result at that track and was also the first weekend of the season to feature back-to-back top 15s for Daniel.

“We had misfortune the previous two weekends getting in wrecks so it was great that we had a strong showing in both main events last weekend,” he said. “It means we’re going in the right direction. We can put brand new cars together and there’s no changes between our cars so that gives me a lot of confidence. All the parts are the same between our cars, but not all cars handle the same. My guys are working hard and doing a great job.”

Daniel opened the weekend by qualifying 14th quickest at Lawton Speedway in Lawton, Okla., on Friday. He then finished fifth in a heat race to lock into the 14th starting position for the main event.

“Lawton is a tricky track,” he said. “There were some holes in the middle of the corner that biked everybody. I found a way to get above it and not bike the car and then stay smooth around the bottom and the middle of the track.”

Daniel’s 11th-place run bested his previous top World of Outlaws result of 13th.

The weekend concluded on Saturday at Devil’s Bowl Speedway, where Daniel qualified 18th quickest. A sixth-place result in a heat race started him 18th in the A Main.

“It was okay up until we got lapped,” he said. “It’s tough when you start so far back because even if you’re moving forward the leader is still catching you. If we didn’t get lapped we would have had a stronger finish. On that last caution three cars got put ahead of us because they were on the lead lap. We passed two more before the end of the race, but they didn’t count. Both nights we were better later in the race, especially at Devil’s Bowl.”

Daniel was credited with a 15th-place finish, which marked his sixth top 15 of the season.

The team returns to World of Outlaws competition this weekend with a trio of shows running Thursday at Plymouth Speedway in Plymouth, Ind.; Friday at Wayne County Speedway in Orrville, Ohio; and Saturday at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pa., for the Commonwealth Clash.

It will be Daniel’s first official race at Plymouth Speedway and Wayne County Speedway after earlier events this season were rained out. Daniel made his debut at Lernerville Speedway in July.
